Life After A Stroke

"I do not know what would have happened to me if they were not there for me." Joy

Navigating life after a stroke felt impossible for Joy until Consonus therapists Juli and Julia stepped in.

When she first arrived at Mirabella ASU, Joy was unable to speak and had no use of her right hand. The simple act of feeding herself was out of reach.

That began to change with the help of Juli and Julia.

Juli designed a custom plan filled with purposeful tasks and at-home exercises that helped Joy steadily regain control of her right hand, enough to begin feeding herself again. Julia, meanwhile, made speech therapy not just effective but enjoyable, using storytelling to spark real progress.

With their support, Joy found strength through every small step:

  • Relearning how to use her right hand
  • Finding confidence in her voice again

Juli and Julia were there through every setback and every breakthrough, adjusting their schedules when Joy had emergencies, contacting her doctors to ensure she got the care she needed, and reminding her she would be okay.

“Even though I am not completely cured,” Joy shared, “I do not know what would have happened to me if they were not there for me.”
